எதிர்கால கார்கள்!

எதிர்காலத்துக்கு நாம் என்ன விட்டுச்செல்லப்போகிறோம் என்று கவலையாக உள்ளது. சாதாரண குடிதண்ணீருக்கு சிரமப்படும் உலகில் தனி நீச்ச்ல் குளம் வைத்திருப்போர் வரை நாம் பார்க்கிறோம்.
எதிர்காலக்கார்கள் சுற்றுப்புறச்சூழல், எரிபொருள் சிக்கனம்,மாற்று எரிபொருள், ஒட்டுவதற்கு எளிமை ஆகியவற்றில் சிறந்ததாக இருக்க வேண்டும். அப்படி சில கார்களைப் பார்ப்போம்!!
1. Ying Hui Choo's Peugeot Blade,Peugeot ன் இந்தக்கார்
பின்புறமுள்ள காற்றாலையிலிருந்து சக்தியை மின் கலன்களுக்கு அளிக்கிறது.

இதுவும் ஒருவர் அமர்ந்து செல்லும் கார்தான். மூன்று மின்காந்த சக்கர உருளைகளால் ஓடும். இடத்தை அடைக்காமல் நிறுத்தலாம்.

7.Michael Witus Schierup என்ற டென்மார்க் வடிவமைப்பாளரால் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. இதன் நீளத்தை மூன்று விதமாக குறைத்து கூட்டி அமைக்கலாம்!!! நெடுஞ்சாலையில் 16’5” அடி நீளமும்,நகர்புறத்தில் ஓட்டும்போது 12” நீளமும், வீட்டில் நிறுத்தும்போது இன்னும் நீளம் குறைவாகவும் மாற்றிக்கொள்ளலாம்!!
8. அர்ஜெண்டினாவச்சேர்ந்த Esteban Peisci வடிவமைத்த காரைப்பாருங்கள். இதில் சக்கரங்களுக்கு பதில் உருளைகள் மூன்று உள்ளன.எல்லாத்தையும் பார்த்துவிட்டீர்கள். உங்களுக்குப் பிடித்ததை சொல்லுங்க........... கூரியரில் அனுப்பி வைக்கப்படும்.

Tata Safari Storme


With the Mahindra XUV500 doing great in the market, Tata had to do something about its ageing Safari thus Tata Motors had finally unveiled its much awaited SUV, the Safari Storme at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2012. The new generation Tata Safari Storme brings in some freshness and performance to the Safari, true to its 4WD pedigree, with a host of technologies and new exteriors and interiors. In the front are a new grill, new projector headlamps and a ‘power bulge’ on the bonnet. New chrome-tipped twin exhausts, the tailgate in an all-new guise and aerodynamic spoilers distinguish the rear, with the spare tyre placed under the vehicle.
Inside you will get beige seats matched with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome highlighted gear knob, wood-accented dashboard and door trims, a new instrument cluster, chrome-lined speaker grills and inside door handles endow the interiors with opulence. The front seats with fore and aft adjustment and lumbar support make long drives a cruise, while the dual AC with separate integrated roof-mounted blower keeps the entire cabin ambient.
 The motor in the Safari Storme is a 2.2L 16-valve common rail (DiCOR) engine (140 PS power; 320 Nm torque) with a variable geometry turbo, mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. Electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) enables shifting from 2WD to 4WD even on the move. Best-in-class turning circle radius of 5.4 metres, 200 mm ground clearance, electrically operated ORVMs and a reverse parking system makes driving convenient on any terrain. For safety, there are 4-channel ABS with EBD, disc brakes on all wheels, a new rack-and-pinion steering system, rigid ladder frame construction with hydro-formed long members, crumple zones, side intrusion beams on all doors, collapsible steering column, dual SRS airbags, inertia switch and an auto engine immobiliser.
The new Safari Storme is a major change over the earlier model and will certainly delight Safari fans!

Nissan NV200

The Indian mid-size van segment is warming up. While GM has plans to launch vans from its international tie-ups, Nissan is now testing the NV200 in India for a 2012 launch. As visible in this exclusive spy picture taken by us, the NV200 that will come to India looks exactly like its international counterpart. The front of the NV200 is quite striking and a big change from what we have been seeing on these kind of vehicles. Even side on, the execution of the front and rear side windows are good and the wheel arches are slightly flared as well. Dimension wise, the Nissan NV200 is 4.4m long, 1.86m tall and 1.69m wide. To be made in India with its tie up with Ashok Leyland, the NV200 is likely to be sold in both passenger and commercial versions.

In the passenger version, the Nissan NV200 will have three rows of seats with two seating configurations of either 7 or 8 seats. The cabin seems to be spacious and we particularly like the execution of the central console with also houses the gear lever. This frees up quite a lot of space for the front seats which also means that the commercial version will be able to seat 3 people up front with ease and hence utilise the rear space for cargo. Practical touches include the cleverly placed bottle holders in front of the air-con vents! The top end passenger variants will get optional ABS and air-bags with standard affair being the keyless entry, power steering, all power windows, rear air-con vents, audio system etc.
Powering the Nissan NV200 in India will be the same 1.5-litre dCi motor that powers the Renault Fluence. However, in the NV200, expect the max power to be around 80Bhp with the engine tuned for pulling power. Nissan claims that the NV200 is very aerodynamic and hence expect good fuel economy figures as well. This engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. An automatic option is ruled out at the moment.

Nissan showcased the NV200 at the Jan 2012 Auto Expo to see initial feedback. Ii will be called the Evalia and  we expect the Evalia range to start at around Rs 6,00,000 for the base commercial version and end at Rs 10,00,000 for the top end passenger version.

Hyundai H-1 Wagon

It is learnt that Hyundai is planning to launch their luxury van, the H-1 Wagon, in the Indian market in the second half of 2012. The Hyundai H-1 Wagon will be showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo and if the response is good, the Korean giant will indeed roll out the van in India later on. We managed to catch this H-1 Wagon, bearing a TN (Tamil Nadu) registration in New Delhi recently. In all probability, this seems to be owned by Hyundai and was being sent to Delhi by road to Hyundai's Delhi office for dealer response - this is our take. What ever may be the case, the H-1 did seem big and nice and should do well considering that private families dont mind shelling out Rs 11 lakh for the smaller Innova!

The H-1 Wagon is also known as the Starex in some markets. Both models though look very very similar. On the inside, the H-1 offers loads of space and practicality. It will be sold as a comfortable 8 seater with the centre seats of the 2nd and 3rd rown folding down to create arm rests and cup-holders. Quality, as is the case with most Hyundai offerings, is also of the higher order.

The H-1 Wagon will come fitted with a diesel engine - this is a 2.5-litre CRDi engine that has an in line 4 cylinder configuration with Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) delivering  up to 392 nm of Torque. Launched in the Indian market in Jan 2008, the Captiva hasn’t really been doing great numbers in the premium SUV segment due to the stiff competition that it has from SUVs like the Fortuner and the Endeavour. Infact, in June, July and August 2011, Chevrolet sold 161, 113 and 113 units respectively. However, the Captiva’s fate is all about to change with the launch of the upgraded version that has been on sale worldwide for a while now. According to Autocarindia, the facelift Captiva has been spotted under real world test in the hill station of Manali in Himachal Pradesh. The Auto Expo is due in Jan 2012 and hence it is a good platform to launch this new version commercially in the Indian market.

Design wise, there are quite a few changes on the outside which are quite easily visible to the naked eye. The new Captiva is a perfect example of an already strong design being honed in all the right areas to ensure it has a more dynamic presence, but without losing any of the original Captiva design essence. We also feel that the front end does look similar to the Mitsubishi Outlander! That said, the dual opening grille design is now a familiar sight on other Chevy products like the Beat and Cruze. Just above the grille, Captiva's aluminum hood is all new, its concave and sculptured lines also designed to make the front profile more aggressive and powerful. The headlamps take on a more purposeful shape while the cylindrical, prism-type lamps, housed inside the casings, look high-end and modern.

The rear of the new Chevrolet Captiva almost unchanged and is defined by a large rear tailgate with its split tailgate glass that opens independently. The large vertically shaped tail lamps with their internal circular shaped indicators and reversing light, the exterior SUV-style tailgate hinges, the twin left and right hand exhausts and a prominent silver skid plate – all go a long way in making the Captiva look like a proper SUV!

The interiors of the Captiva have always been good – it is a spacious SUV with high quality bits and good ergonomics. The upgraded Captiva's new upgraded interior now features an array of new finishes and textures, taking the new model up-market in feel and look. Changes are less as compared to the changes on the outside but one of the key signatures is the dual-cockpit design and wrap-around front fascia. The Corvette-inspired dual cockpit lends the cabin a natural symmetry, while the wrap around fascia, which flows from the dash into the top sections of the driver's and front passenger doors, gives the front of the cabin a seamless, unified look.

The Captiva will continue to be powered by a diesel engine though it is a completely new unit. The Captiva will now get a 2.2-litre diesel engine which is the latest generation engine and is an advanced, four cylinder double overhead cam turbocharged unit, featuring a high pressure common rail fuel injection system and variable geometry turbo charger (VGT) with intercooler. It produces a maximum power of 184Bhp and will be mated to 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

While the current Captiva starts at Rs 17.97 lakh, the new one with improved design, cabin and a bigger engine is expected to carry a slightly higher starting price range of around Rs 18.5 lakh, going all the way to around Rs 20 lakh for the top end automatic transmission. Even with a higher sticker price, the new Captiva should easily find more buyers as the number of changes easily out-weigh the probably increase in price.

The current Maruti Gypsy is the best off-road 4x4 vehicle in the country. However, there are too many shortcomings in the car to make it a good private buy – the engine is peppy but being petrol, very expensive to run. The suspension is best suited for off-road use and hence a pain in daily usage. There is option to go for an air-con, power steering or even power windows. The Gypsy hence is a basic and crude buy in front of other diesel powered MUVs/SUVs in India. There has always been a huge demand for a diesel version and we wish, need and believe that its time Maruti finally used the Fiat derived engine in this light-weight MUV to increase its appeal among the masses.

Maruti could very well use the 75PS version 1.3-litre DDiS engine that currently powers the Swift and the Ritz. This engine is good on power and also has enough torque to get the Gypsy out of tricky situations when off the road. However, the biggest plus point is the low running costs. For example, with the diesel Gypsy, one can easily expect around 14kmpl in city usage, which can help an owner save Rs 90,000 in an year for 2,000km monthly usage! Apart from the engine change, here is what we feel should also be done
1. Softer suspension for better comfort
2. Optional power-steering, air-con and power windows
3. Better looking and better feel interior – the design lines and plastic usage
4. Slight changes to the exterior could also help.

Maruti Gypsy Diesel Launch

All these changes will easily make the Gypsy more appealing to the masses. Youngsters want such a vehicle and we strong feel there is a huge market for such a vehicle. Its time Maruti should test these new waters and launch the diesel Gypsy next year. Prices could start at around Rs 6.25 lakh, going all the way to Rs 7.25 lakh for the top end model with air-con, power-steering, power-windows etc.

 

Royal Enfield Fury 500



Royal Enfield India is going to launch its iconic model ‘Fury’ in India. Fury is based on the model manufactured by the company from 1959-1963 and which was built exclusively for the US market and only 191 units were ever produced. The name Fury was later on used for a licensed copy of the German-built Zundap KS175, but this fury resembles the original Fury a lot. Launched in the UK in 2011, the Fury is now targeted towards the Indian market.

 
 
The Fury is based on the Royal Enfield Bullet Electra and uses a 499cc single cylinder fuel injected engine. The bike will produce 28bhp of maximum power at 4250rpm and a 41.3Nm of maximum torque at 4000rpm, it is the same motor that is being used in the Classic 500 and the Upcoming Thunderbird 500. Royal Enfield Fury is equipped with western-style handlebars mounted over a billet aluminum top yoke. Unlike other modern Royal Enfields, the Fury uses a chrome headlight and a digital instrument panel. The Electra’s twin saddle is replaced by a flat track-style fiberglass single seat unit with incorporated tail light and it is also the first Enfield to sport twin exhaust pipes.
 
 
The stylish halogen headlamp placed in the front of the bike is to offer classy and elegant looks and also clear vision at night. The stylish turn indicators of the bike are gracefully placed near the handlebars and look very aristocratic maintaining the trend of the company.
 
 
The Fury looks more like a hybrid between a café racer and an Electra, it is a sharp handler and is something one would love to throw around the corner of a race track. The retro looks of the Fury will attract a lot of buyers towards the bike. Royal Enfield plans to launch the bike later in the last quarter of 2012. The bike should be priced between 1.3-1.7 lakh INR. We would be watching the development on the launch of this bike and will be the first ones to let you know about it.

Suzuki GW250



Motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki is all set to launch its 250cc parallel twin motorcycle Inazuma in the Indian market. Unveiled at the Motorcycle live, UK’s biggest motorcycle show in November 2011.The bike was earlier launched in China under the name of GW250. The Inazuma features a parallel twin 284cc engine, with the styling inspired by the B-King and GSR models it certainly becomes an eye candy. Inazuma boasts a fuel injected liquid cooled twin cylinder engine with a six speed transmission which churns out a maximum of 26bhp at 8500 and 24Nm torque at 7000rpm. Braking is controlled by front and rear disc brakes which will make it stop as fast as it gains speeds while all the aluminum body helps in reducing the overall weight resulting in more power and fuel economy.
The bike will have a comprehensive instrument panel which will include a gear indictor, service reminder, three mode RPM indicator which will help in allowing one to select the gear change prompts that suits different riding styles and an economy mode for changing gear to achieve optimum fuel consumption. Expect the Inazuma to deliver a fuel efficiency of around 30-32kmpl which is very good considering it’s a twin cylinder bike. It will work as a very good alternative for the tourers who are looking to cover distances and also want decent speeds on their bikes.  Inazuma means lightning in Japanese and its looks are somewhat inspired by that too , we doesn’t expect it to be lightning fast but we do expect the bike will be able to reach the speeds in upwards of 170kmph and with 24Nm of torque, will be fun to ride in city as well. Suzuki might bring the bike via CKD route.

Suzuki has a long history of operation in India. It started with a joint venture along with TVS company of India in the 1980s. The joint venture had launched a 100cc bike for the Indian market. However, soon another joint venture Hero Honda overtook sales of Suzuki-TVS. At last, the joint venture of TVS and Suzuki came to an end in 2001, and later both players came out with their own products. Suzuki launched 125cc bikes Zeus and Heat in 2006.
As of now Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited sells its two-wheelers GSX-R1000, Bandit 1250S, Hayabusa 1300, Intruder M1800R, GS150R, SlingShot and SlingShot Plus, besides the scooter Access 125 in India.Expect the Inazuma to be launched somewhere around the second half of 2012 and expect its price to fall in between 1.5-2.0 lakh rupees. We hope it launches soon as we are also waiting to feel the jolt of the lightning from Suzuki.

The BMW R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure are motorcycles manufactured in Berlin, Germany by BMW Motorrad, part of the BMW group. It is one of the BMW GS family of dual sport motorcycles. Both motorcycles feature a 1,170 cc, 2-cylinder boxer engine with 4-valves per cylinder. The Adventure features a larger capacity fuel tank and longer travel suspension.

Yamaha fazer 250


Yamaha India is developing Fazer 250 which is based on the famous FZ and Fazer series. It will be equipped with a single cylinder motor which will boast four valves, fuel injection and a liquid cooling system. The single cylinder motor will be capable of producing a peak power in access of 24bhp and torque figures upwards of 20Nm. With the help of six gears the bike will be easily able to attain a top whack of 160+ kmph and would easily be able to cruise at the speeds of 140kmph. In addition to the power its highlights will be its traffic carving capabilities and its brilliant low end torque will make it a fantastic tool for city riding and also for highway stints. Just like all the bikes in FZ series, it will be a brilliant handler as well which will have the potential to tackle the battering offered by the Indian roads.

It will be one of the best looking bikes in the country sporting a designing theme which will emit boldness, with sharp lines and curves it will be an eye magnet.  Unlike the FZ it will sport a half fairing which will make it more aerodynamic and a better looker as well. Yamaha will promote the Fazer as a touring bike. Bigger and fatter front shocks and better rear set up will make it a delight to ride even in the bad patches. Fatter tyres will aid to the grip and control as well, sporting bigger front and rear disc it will be a quick stopping machine as well. The fuel capacity on this bike will be increased probably to 18 liters in order to increase the riding range, which will be a very welcome feature on the bike for commuters and tourers as well. It will be equipped with a multi information speedometer which will display time, range, fuel efficiency, service interval, service due lights and the normal speed and tachometer as well.
The Fazer250 will be offered between a price range of 1.4-2 lakh INR which will put it in competition with the KTM Duke200, Honda CBR250R and the Kawasaki Ninja 250. The Fazer250 should be launched by the third quarter of this year. We have our eyes on the development of the bike and will be the first to let you know about any updates.

In addition to the power its highlights will be its traffic carving capabilities and its brilliant low end torque will make it a fantastic tool for city riding and also for highway stints. Just like all the bikes in FZ series, it will be a brilliant handler as well which will have the potential to tackle the battering offered by the Indian roads.

It will be one of the best looking bikes in the country sporting a designing theme which will emit boldness, with sharp lines and curves it will be an eye magnet.  Bigger and fatter front shocks and better rear set up will make it a delight to ride even in the bad patches. Fatter tyres will aid to the grip and control as well, sporting bigger front and rear disc it will be a quick stopping machine as well. The fuel capacity on this bike will be increased probably to 18 liters in order to increase the riding range, which will be a very welcome feature on the bike for commuters and tourers as well. It will be equipped with a multi information speedometer which will display time, range, fuel efficiency, service interval, service due lights and the normal speed and tachometer as well.
The FZ250 will be offered between a price range of 1.4-2 lakh INR which will put it in competition with the KTM Duke200, Honda CBR250R and the Kawasaki Ninja 250. The FZ 250 should be launched by the third quarter of this year. We have our eyes on the development of the bike and will be the first to let you know about any updates.

Mahindra New Verito Review

Post split, Mahindra has made subtle changes on the Verito, formerly known as the Logan. However these are changes on a minimalistic level. Now Mahindra plans something more substantial. The company is working hard on morphing the Logan into a sub 4m car. This means, like the Tata Indigo CS, the Verito too will have its boot chopped off. This would ensure that the Verito complies to the small car norms and will benefit from less duties. Interiors too will be tarted up in tune with the outside. The engine will be the 1.5-litre Renault sourced diesel unit.
The result could be a highly competitively priced, super efficient and affordable sedan.

The Ferrari 458 Italia took the supercar world’s breath away with its breadth of abilities and looks, and now the convertible version, called the Spider, is going to make its way to the Indian marketplace. The roof is an aluminium unit that folds into the engine bay in 14 seconds. Aerodynamics were optimised so that the car’s occupants could have a normal compensation even at 200kph with the roof down – although we can’t imagine ourselves discussing much while hurtling down the road at that speed. Delivering all that fury is a read-mid mounted 4.5-litre V8 engine with 562PS that feeds the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox. Top speed is over 320kph. And as if the hardtop’s wail wasn’t evocative enough, the convertible’s noise has been tuned for even better aural enjoyment.

Chevrolet Sail basically based on previously launched Opel Corsa, It has come with both variants a petrol and diesel, petrol powered by 1.4L with developing103PS in 6000RPm, also diesel powered by 1.3L with developing 90PS of power, with having 5 speed manual gearbox with same smooth gear shifting what we experienced in Chevy cars.

Indian SUV maker giant Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. bought maximum shares of South Korean automaker SsangYong motors on 2010, now Mahindra SsangYong planning launches Korean global SUV Rexton on mid of 2012 in India..
